Hi:
I've made about 30 beads of different shapes and sizes by layering Medium Pink Alabaster Moretti Glass over Pale Lavender. They're all anealed the same way and cleaned with a bead reamer. After a few days, the beads develop tiny cracks. I NEVER have this happen with any other colour. Can I put the beads back into the kiln and try to fuse out the cracks? Tricky, I know. Why is this happening?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Raining today (which is a good thing in drought-stricken Australia!).
Thanks,
Wendy

Hi Wendy - it probably has to do with the alabaster moretti. Even though the glass is all 104, sometimes there are incapatability issues between the colors. I had similar problems with that glass in the past. You could always try fusing, but if you've taken them off the mandrels, you'll probably distort the hole. Good luck with it.

Hi All:
I've worked out it MUST be the Alabaster Moretti that's the problem. Yesterday, I tried encasing the bead in clear and it didn't crack! But, the clear (which really isn't totally clear) turned it a more brown shade and took away the vibrancy of the pink. So far the only pink I really like is from Bullseye. But, I've made a big investment in Moretti glass and don't want to duplicate with more expensive Bullseye. Ah, the challenges!
