Congratulations and best wishes for your new forum, Marilyn! Oh, and welcome to the Carolinas! I live just outside Charlotte and have for nearly 15 years. Married for almost 27 years, our daugther works for Corp. BOA and our son attends the Art Institute of Atlanta. Hubby and I are self-employeed. I've been lampworking for going on six years, but have messed with glass all my life.
I also enjoy silversmithing, landscaping and flowers, knitting, and riding our Harleys every chance we get. I'm also into American Girl dolls, thanks to my Mom and my three younger sisters. Good grief, I need 36 hour days!!!
Again, welcome to the Carolinas!

Thanks Darla! Very happy to meet you! Maybe we'll see you at some the local meetings. I plan on being at Flamed Kissed Beads for the meeting this coming Sunday - I hope to meeta few of the local beadmakers there. Will you be there? If not, then I'll try to get to a meeting closer to your area. No promises though, we're running on one vehicle right now, so me going off is a bit difficult to do.
Again, thanks for posting and please come back often so we can really get this whole project up and running.

Welcome Michelle and thank you! Please don't forget to join in on the blog and keep an eye out for the auction and mini mall along with many other features this site will have to offer. All of this will go hand in hand with the magazine, so participation is very important at this early stage.

I know some of you from other web sites, but I'll go ahead and introduce myself here as well...
My name is Chad, and I do a lot of different kinds of glass work. I started off making soft glass beads, but for the last year I've done primarily boro work. I do beads, pendants, and marbles. Marbles are my current obsession (although my fiance hates them because she can't wear them...). I teach lampworking classes locally, and have applied to teach at BeadFest (www.beadfest.com) but they haven't released who is teaching yet.

Welcome Cosmo! Good luck on the beadfest!

Congratulations on your new venture, and I'd also like to welcome you to the Carolina's. I'm Kelly Davidson of Firehouse Glass. I live in Beaufort, South Carolina, located on the coast in the southern tip. My husband and I have four children, two girls and two boys ages 9, 13, 17, and 20. I worked with clay for years, and other types of art, but never have I loved anything as much as glass. I've been making beads for 5 years now. I'm completely self taught, having never had a lesson. I love the whole process of making beads and then designing jewelry with them. Most days I spend from 9 -12 hours in my studio, and usually can't wait to get up in the morning to see what comes out of the kiln.
This new magazine project looks exciting, and I look forward tosupporting it and seeing it grow.

Thank you Kelly and welcome to The Annealer Magazine.com. I'm sure we'll get an opportunity to meet at one of the meetings. Will you be at the meeting in Cary tomorrow? I'm sure that it is quite a hike, but I know some people are travelling quite a distance to be there.
Thanks again for your good wishes!

Marilyn,
I'll email you later but I have registered and wanted to check out your site first. We miss you in So. Florida but hopefully you will enjoy North Carolina. My son and family moved to Gastonia two years ago so we get to come up whenever life gives us a moment.
I have been lampworking for 2-1/2 years. I use strictly soft glass and do sculptural flowers. I started with PMC Clay and then I started making glass flowers to use in my garden bracelets but have been so busy making flowers that I rarely find time to make my bracelets. I work full time so my time on the torch is only a few nights a week. I also am partners with Pam Dugger in the River of Glass Studio which is a private studio for teaching and playing.

Hi Barb and welcome to the forum. Please don't forget to register on the blog so you can participate there too!
I miss all of you down in Florida too! I'll make new friends here though - today I went to my first meeting with the CarolinaFireFiends. We had a ball and I did get to meet some really nice glass people! I'm looking forward to the next meeting!
Congrats on your studio - I was glad to be a part of your grand opening event. I'll make sure to come visit you and Pam when I'm in Fla for visits. (I still have my children down there).
Come back and visit often to check our progress on both the site and the magazine!
Until then,
Marilyn

Hi everyone! Some of you know me already, I am Fyrsmith on WC!, LE and GLDG.
I have been blowing boro for about 31 years, mostly part time, off and on, but I've always been working at some level. I started in 1974 when I owned a crafts gallery and teaching studio in Anchorage, AK where my partner and I taught stoneware pottery and I taught lost wax casting for jewelry. We had extra space to rent out to people to teach other crafts. My first teacher was one of those people, a student of John Borton named Ellen Goese. As they say, " the rest is history". I made ornaments, perfume bottles, oil lamps etc for many years, and just recently (about three years ago) started making boro beads. This year I am working on marbles.
Good luck on this project, so far it looks GREAT!

Thanks for stopping by, we hope to see you often.

The site is looking great Marilyn! I see alot of familiar faces here ![]()
I'm Teresa Laliberte' owner of LavenderCreek Glass. I've been making beads for right at a year now. I live in Germany, but I come originally from the US. My husband is German so here I am. I'm 43, no kids but 2 wonderful kitties. We live in the country in a small cottage that we spent a year rebuilding. My studio is really small but I hope to buy a garden house within the next year so I have my own space.
Anyway, nice to be here and I look forward to seeing this magazine come to life!

Don, I did not receive your email - just wondering if you sent it through this site or not. Please let me know so I can check it out.
As for the blog - you have to go to the blog page and register there. Once you have done that, let me know and I'll be able to set your privilege so you can blog away!!
Thanks!

Hey all!
I see some familiar faces too! Though I tend to lurk a bit, some of you may recognize me from other forums, most likely LE. My name is Meri, and I'm a college freshman in Kansas. I spend less time torching than I'd like because of that, but the summer's coming soon anyway, right? =P I sell on eBay occasionally, and am really looking forward to seeing this magazine--it's easy to get tired of buying magazines for just the one lampworking article they've included. Anything else you want to know, just ask!

Hi Meri! Again, welcome to our little forum.
Check out the blog from time to time - we usually have updates there more than anywhere else on the site.
Thanks for introducing yourself,

Hi, All! ![]()
My name is Terry Hale from Madison, Alabama (next to Huntsville.) I've been making beads about 2 1/2 years now and I'm still trying to find "my style." I'm finalizing the plans for a working studio and retail shop in historic Madison and hope to be operational in just a few weeks. <says she, with great optimism>
I toil as a Department of Defense contractor by day. I'm married to a wonderful husband who encourages my beadwork. We have a son who is 13 3/4 (his calculation) and is becoming a pretty darned good artist.
I've lurked quite a bit on all the other forums without getting many chances to post but I hope to be more active soon. I already see several familiar "faces" here...even if we haven't officially met I've certainly drooled over your work!
I hope to see this site and magazine grow into something fantastic. It's exciting to be here at the beginning!

Thank, Marilyn! I'll get some pictures of my place posted very soon. It's a very neat old building right on historic Main Street. There's plenty of room so I hope to have lessons and retreats there evenutally. I got the blessing of the zoning committee and the fire chief last week and I'm signing the lease Saturday. Starting Saturday afternoon, it will be work, work, work! One of my first chores is to get internet access set up, so I'll be peeking in here often.

That's great news Terry! Congratulations! It's great to have the blessings of the fire chief and zoning people!!
Can't wait to see some pics. I used to know quite a few people from your neck of the woods. Lost contact with all of them over the past 20 years though.
Anyway - I'll be watching for the pictures! When are you planning on opening to the public... or do you have a date yet?
